Job description

CLTP Tasmania is creating the future of cross laminated timber (CLT) and glue laminated timber (GLT) drawn from sustainable hardwood plantations. We are responsible manufacturers, using Australian plantation hardwoods to deliver projects that are great for people. CLTP is not just a commodity, but a solution.

Wynyard in Tasmania is a fine example, we have developed our state of the art manufacturing facility delivering significant benefits to the local economy together with our timber mill in Deep Creek.

The Position:
We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and passionate Assistant Production Manager to join our team. This role will focus on ensuring CLTP achieves its production goals on time and within budget. You will be responsible for ensuring our valued teams are well prepared and placed at various workstations to optimize to production efficiency. 

A key component of this role is to monitor and address inventory and stock on hand, incoming orders and supply chain challenges. You will also be in charge of scheduling routine maintenance to keep the equipment running effectively and maintaining quality standards.

Your Profile: 
To be considered for this role, you will have Health, Safety and Wellness in your DNA and this will translate in everything you say and do. You will have a can do attitude,  possess a hands-on management and leadership approach and relish the opportunity to be involved in a manufacturing environment. Importantly you will work collaboratively with our team members to build strategies to maximize efficiencies and performance.

Knowledge of timber production processes and quality control will be highly regarded. You will have a rich history in Timber products and an understand of how these are made and what the market is looking for. 

Core Aspects of the role;

  • Planning, scheduling and coordinating production of the company’s products from shook production to final product.
  • Evaluating raw materials and equipment to ensure everything is in place for production.
  • Scheduling shifts and team members to provide proper coverage, so as to ensure adequate scheduling of staff.
  • Managing costs to ensure the production process stays within budget, including finding ways to improve productivity and reduce costs, including stablishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.
  • Motivating, supporting and providing guidance to production staff 
  • Communicating regularly with management regarding problems or issues impacting production 
  • Managing production disruptions and productivity challenges.
