Since 1985, the independent surf shop Long Reef Surf Co, has been a cornerstone of the Northern Beaches, offering top-quality wetsuits, softboards, bodyboards, and a wide range of surfing accessories. Under new ownership, our business has transformed over the last few years and is growing rapidly. We are building our team to deliver the best surf, swim & snorkel products and experiences to our customers all around the country.
We are currently seeking a passionate and highly energised Retail Team Leader, on a full-time basis, to work hand in hand with the owners to co-manage our in-store experience and deliver success aligned to our ambitious growth plans.
About You
You are a passionate surfer, swimmer, snorkeller, bodyboarder or water sports enthusiast. Your perfect day involves enjoying a dip in the beautiful coastline and helping others do the same. You have awesome retail experience and you thrive in a retail environment, providing exceptional customer service and sharing your knowledge about water sports products. You are a leader, ambitious and excited to join a business that is growing and disrupting the status quo.
About The Role
We are looking for a dynamic and highly energized Retail Team Leader to join us full-time. You will work closely with the owners and manage the day-to-day in-store experience and contribute to our ambitious growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the team of retail sales and customer service professionals, ensuring exceptional service both in-store and online.
- Oversee sales and merchandising of all products in-store, acting as the trusted “expert” for our customers.
- Schedule and manage the in-store team roster, including part-time and casual members.
- Manage in-store inventory and stock levels, maintaining an ever-growing product range, receiving goods, performing stocktakes, and handling special orders.
- Contribute ideas for new products, merchandising, or store design to drive business growth.
- Liaise with key suppliers for in-store visits and training, maintaining excellent supplier relationships.
- Oversee daily store operations, including cleaning and housekeeping.
Key Qualifications
- 3+ years of retail experience, preferably in surf, sports, or clothing sectors.
- A natural leader who can build and lead a team with energy, positivity, honesty, and empathy.
- Passionate about the latest surf, swim, or snorkel trends and products and able to share that enthusiasm with customers.
- Commercially savvy, with the ability to close sales, upsell, and cross-sell based on customer needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with computers and mobile technology.
- High standards of personal presentation.
- Reliable, honest, friendly, and a positive attitude.
- Availability to work at least one weekend day regularly.
