What you'll be doing
The Assistant in Nursing provides nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse that reflects current standards of nursing practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at .

- Successful completion of a relevant Certificate III (or higher) qualification in Health Services Assistance, for example the current course HLT33115 Certificate III Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care), or having equivalent experience or proof of enrolment in Bachelor of Nursing degree & completion of 1 or more years training.
- Good knowledge of basic nursing care including observations of temperature, pulse and blood pressure and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work under supervision and provide care within a multidisciplinary care setting.
- Sound knowledge of Infection Control standard precautions.
- A thorough knowledge of scope of practice and a demonstrated ability to work within scope boundaries.
