Location
Mackay is a beautiful costal town surrounded by the Gregory Range to the west and the Great Barrier Reef to the east. Mackay is home to a great marina and state leading schools. Mackay has a large industrial zone separate from the township serving the local sugar cane and mining sectors. Mackay forms part of the Whitsundays and the great barrier reef is on our doorstep. Given its regional location housing is affordable when compared to the capital cities.

About the role
As an Associate Electrical Engineer you will be assisting our project engineers, working on both local and national projects, to complete all aspects of engineering output in an efficient manner while contributing to a quality product within the allocated budget.
Your work will include:
- Provide electrical design expertise on a variety of mid to top tier multi-disciplinary projects,
- Undertake field and desktop investigations related to the condition, appropriateness, and capacity of existing electrical infrastructure related to capital upgrades,
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, that presents complex information and results effectively, to technical and non-technical clients,
- Prepare detailed documentation and specification requirements for Electrical components to support procurement and delivery of allocated projects,
- Deliver best practice and outcomes for clients, saving on costs and time,
- Take lead on engineering design when required, project coordination and management,
- Communicate effectively with all external and internal stakeholders and project teams,
- Build solid client relationships, representing the business with the local and regional markets.
- Developing detailed designs and the associated supporting documentation including schematic diagrams, block diagrams, cable schedules, and relay files.
- Working with various clients to deliver, and exceed, their expectations.
- Reviewing and adhering to quality standards and relevant Australian Standards.
- Developing and improving the way the business operates through existing process and innovations or developing and implementing new concepts.
About you
- Hold a recognized qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrate min. 3 years` experience in preparation of design, specifications, reports, calculations, drawings, cost estimation and details/schedules for projects
- Sound experience with electrical and power systems modelling software, such as PowerCAD, and AutoCAD
- Have the ability to coordinate and understand relevant building services disciplines
- Demonstrate a history of effectively managing competing priorities, prioritizing work, and meeting tight deadlines
- Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Capable project and people leader - train, and mentor junior engineers, coupled with effective communication skills at all levels
- Able to speak and write clearly, concisely, and compelling. You will need to use your written and verbal communication skills to influence people’s decisions, actions, and vision
