About the Opportunity

Our company is currently seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Infrastructure Team. As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for performing Mechanical Engineering design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pump stations and treatment plants.

You will be expected to prepare and guide junior engineers through engineering drawings, technical reports, and specifications for projects from concept design through to detailed design. You will perform and review mechanical calculations to analyse, select and design mechanical systems as well as contributing to multidisciplinary teams delivering major water and wastewater treatment projects. You will lead business development, proposed preparation and develop strong relationships with key clients.

Our Water Infrastructure Section works on long term framework agreements with major clients based in Melbourne, including Melbourne Water, Yarra Valley Water and Great Western Water; important regional clients such as Goulburn Valley Water, Central Highlands Water; and many others. We regularly collaborate with our teams nationally and work with interstate clients, including Sydney Water, Queensland Urban Utilities, Water Corporation WA, and SA Water amongst others. You will also get the opportunity to work on projects internationally and connect to Global Industry leaders and experts.

To be successful in this role, you must have extensive experience leading water and wastewater infrastructure design principles and mechanical design, as well as being able to coordinate with other disciplines to ensure the design achieves the client’s intent.

Our strong pipeline of work means that we require strong candidates who can demonstrate experience across the following skills:

· Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.

· Chartered status from relevant engineering body

· Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the water and wastewater industry post graduate degree

· Extensive experience in performing Mechanical Engineering design across the asset lifecycle from concept design through to detailed design project, and working on multidisciplinary projects.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients.

· Excellent leadership skills, and experience leading Mechanical Engineers

· Experience in mentoring and developing junior Mechanical Engineers
