The Department
Deakin University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery and Alfred Health Nursing Services expanded their long-established research and education partnership in 2013 with the appointment of the first Chair in Nursing. Since that time Deakin’s Centre for Quality and Patient Safety Research - Alfred Health Partnership has been conducting high quality research that makes a substantive contribution to scientific knowledge, clinical nursing practice and the quality of patient care.
The Position SummaryThe Associate Research Fellow in Machine Learning will join our dynamic research team in the field of Machine Learning, focusing on cutting-edge research projects aimed at advancing our understanding of Neural Systems and developing innovative Machine Learning technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of interdisciplinary researchers to contribute to designing and conducting research studies, analysing data, publishing results in peer-reviewed journals, applying for research grants, and supervising and training HDR students.
Skills and Qualifications Required
Essential
- A Ph.D. degree in Machine Learning
- Proficiency in embedded programming of Machine Learning systems
- Proficiency in using software packages and tools for design and implementation of Machine Learning systems and research
- Proficiency in designing and implementing experiments, data collection, and analysis
- Familiarity with on-device artificial intelligence algorithm development
Desirable
- Ability to develop high-quality applications for internal and external grants
- Ability to supervise HDR students
- Familiarity with local and international Machine Learning industry
