The Role
Our high-performing Environment Business is growing and embedding sustainability in our projects is key. We are a large multidisciplinary company with iconic projects across renewables, environmental studies, dams & hydropower, urban communities and transport.
We are seeking a talented Associate Scientist - Sustainability & Climate Resilience to join our established and supportive team with a great culture. We have a solid pipeline of work with an ethical client base across a variety of interesting projects. You will help change the way we deliver projects by bringing your sustainability knowledge into the team.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Facilitating the implementation of sustainability and climate change initiatives and assessments into projects to achieve positive outcomes
  • Assisting with the implementation of the SMEC sustainability, climate change and resilience strategy, including emerging operations and services and Net Zero commitment
  • Maintaining and building relationships with internal and external clients and key stakeholders to build awareness of sustainability initiatives
  • Providing the technical delivery of sustainability ratings, life cycle assessments, climate change risk assessments
  • Embedding sustainability in our proposals through to design and operation
  • Preparation of technical documentation including proposals and reports
  • Looking for new and innovative approaches to better manage and mitigate climate impacts on projects
About You:
  • Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, engineering or science
  • 10+ years’ experience industry experience
  • Experience working in sustainable infrastructure from design to construction
  • Experience in sustainability ratings
  • Excellent report writing skills and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment with well-developed interpersonal skills
