Invitation for Applications: Audit and Risk Committee Independent Member (two positions available)
Hobsons Bay City Council invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to join its Audit and Risk Committee as an Independent Member.
- Position: Advisory
- Term: Three years, renewable for one additional term
- Meetings: Quarterly
The Audit and Risk Committee serves as an advisory body to the Council, providing independent assurance and assistance in the areas of financial reporting, audit, internal control effectiveness, risk management, and regulatory compliance. This oversight mechanism enhances confidence in the integrity of these practices. Committee membership consists of two Councillors and three Independent Members, one of whom is appointed by the Council as the Committee Chair. Independent members must be members of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and/or the Institute of Internal Auditors, possessing experience in financial management, risk, public sector management, and governance.
The appointment will be for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal for an additional term. The Audit and Risk Committee holds four scheduled meetings per year.

- Relevant qualifications and experience
- Substantial experience in leading internal Audit and Risk in a complex regulatory environment
- Substantial experience in a similar Audit Committee / Board Position
- Applied understanding of contemporary governance and compliance challenges facing Local Government in Victoria
