The Role

Are you willing to drive the implementation of new policies and regulations across Defence? This role is the perfect opportunity for a confident and self-motivated individual at the heart of Defence. 

As the Australian Defence Force Headquarters RoyalCommission into Defence and Veteran Suicide (ADFHQ RCDVS) Coordination Manager, you will understand issues, solutions, and challenges across Defence. You will assist Defence to help the RCDVS by leading responses to information requests, contributing to a whole-of-Defence position on Final Recommendations made by the RCDVS, and implementing those recommendations across Defence. You will be the ADFHQ representative at scoping meetings and liaison forums and engage daily with your RCDVS counterparts in Navy, Army, Air Force and Joint ADF Groups. 

The role provides an opportunity to develop your leadership and influence across strategic and sensitive reform activities with long-lasting impacts on the Defence and veteran community.

About our Team

You will join a high-performing and dedicated team of implementation, assurance, lessons, data and legal specialists in the Directorate of Select Strategic Issues Management. The team provides the Chief of Defence Force with an enterprise-wide capability to manage strategic issues, assure response, remediation, reputation and reform. Together, the team provides the Chief of Defence Force and the Vice Chief of Defence Force with timely and trusted information to enhance decision-making confidence and assist in reputation and risk management.

Our Ideal Candidate

We a looking for an outcomes-focused leader to coordinate our contributions to the RCDVS and represent ADFHQ’s interests in implementing the Commission’s recommendations.

You will need confident written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to think collegiately and strategically in the Defence context, and the interpersonal skills to maintain positive work relationships. You must be comfortable speaking in groups and prepared to engage with a variety of stakeholders both virtually, in person, and managing expectations at all stakeholder levels. Finally, you will also need to be a bit flexible, be comfortable managing both busy and slower work tempos, and be prepared to fly solo every now and then.
