Auto-Electrician / Electronics Technician | Newcastle

We currently have a full-time vacancy for an experienced Auto-Electrician / Electronics Technician with a great attitude and “can-do” mentality to join our Newcastle Service Team located in Thornton. Reporting to the Branch Manager, we are looking for a team player with strong communication skills, sound technical knowledge and outstanding customer service skills to take on a fast-paced role. 

The overall objective of this role is to carry out the electrical repair, maintenance and service to a high standard effectively and efficiently. You will work as part of the branch Service Team and portray your professionalism to our customers, suppliers and colleagues. 

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Testing and troubleshooting and repair on a range of low voltage equipment. 
  • Perform scheduled electrical maintenance and repair as required.
  • Electrical service checks, fault finding, repair and maintenance of vehicles and traffic equipment.
  • Administrative tasks relevant to the position.
  • Be part of an on-call roster. 

We are seeking a person with the following skills and experience:

  • Appropriate Auto Electrician/Low-Voltage experience and qualifications with own basic tools of trade.
  • Previous experience working on traffic management equipment including Truck-Mounted Attenuators will be highly regarded.
  • Has a valid manual Driver’s Licence. 
  • Heavy Vehicle Licence will be advantageous.
  • A forklift licence is preferred but not essential to be considered for this role.
  • Can work unsupervised and can follow instructions.
  • Is self-motivated and takes pride in their work.
  • Is reliable and punctual and has excellent work ethics.
  • Strong diagnosis and problem-solving skills
  • Works with a sense of urgency and is focused on providing the best possible service to our customers.
  • Can work overtime, including weekends when needed and be part of an after-hours on-call roster.
  • Has a stable work history and checkable work references.
