Position Summary
Utilising our extensive block library of truss and scaffolding components, and creating new blocks when required, the position will work in collaboration with key sales and technical staff in the realisation of custom temporary structures through drafting and assembly of 3D models in 3D AutoCAD 2015. The Draftsman will be proficient in assembling dwg blocks in model space and creating multiple layout construction drawings with detailed dimensions and notes in paper space using view-ports.
Key Accountabilities
- Building and Maintaining Tri-Point’s CAD Library on our external NAS Drive.
- Assembling 3D models (block building) in model space for new projects such as quoted work, or conceptual work.
- Plotting detailed layouts in paper space using view-ports, inclusive of 2D section elevations and plan views, as well as 3D isometric views for conceptualization, annotated with dimensions and important notes for construction or engineering.
- Plotting the multi-page layouts to a suitably compressed PDF for emailing to clients for approval and engineers for certification, and printing for project managers to reference when building onsite.
- Generating component lists from the 3D models for the project managers, to be used as a base equipment list for quoting or prepping.
- Working with project managers, third party engineers and consultants to revise and modify construction drawings from conceptual through to technical.
- Revising construction drawings at each point of the production process; from conceptual for quotation, issued for approval, issued for construction, and ‘as-built’ for future reference.
- Creating 2D fabrication / shop drawings as occasionally required.
- Creating new 3D model blocks in our CAD library for newly fabricated or purchased equipment.
- Actively researching Australian Building Codes and Relevant Standards and develop personal knowledge of temporary structures and best design practices.
- Working with the team to pro-actively develop innovative ideas to keep Tri-Point competitive in the marketplace.
- General office administration as required.
Key Selection Criteria
- Strong and demonstratable Autodesk AutoCAD 3D skills is a must.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in the production of drawings.
- Ability to work autonomously and often under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional organisation and time management skills.
- Approachable with good interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Full drivers’ licence and access to own vehicle preferred.
- Experience with, or understanding of, scaffolding, alloy concert truss and staging is highly desirable but not essential.
Other Requirements
The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, based at the Sydney Headquarters in Botany NSW. This role may require occasional weekend and out-of-hours work to meet deadlines as and when required during busy peaks.
Appointment to this position is subject to the position holder having residency status and/or possessing a visa with work rights.
