About the Role
Work Life Safety Systems (WLSS) is an innovative South Australian WHS and compliance company with a reputation for delivering quality services by certified and highly skilled professionals.
We are looking for an efficiency-driven and client-oriented Backend Developer who will play a key role in our pioneering platform that helps companies to monitor and improve their safety and business activities. As the Backend Developer, we will count on you to:
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C# code (.NET Core, REST APIs and EF Core)
- Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
- Implement, test, and bug-fix new and existing functionality
- Analyse system requirements and prioritize tasks
- Write Unit and Integration tests
- Communicate with the team involved in the development process
- Keep abreast of industry trends
You should:
- Have a unique blend of technical expertise and analytical mindset
- Be user-focused with strong problem-solving skills
- Achieve set targets as determined by the Head of Engineering and Director
- Be proactive in undertaking training to further develop knowledge
- Have a mature, can-do attitude, and the initiative to provide input and suggestions to improve Company policies, processes, work procedures, and services
- Be able to work independently in a responsible manner, whenever required
This role involves a hybrid setup, combining both in-office and remote work / work from home.

Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with C#
- Proven hands-on experience in developing Backend applications using C# (.NET Core, REST APIs and EF Core)
- Demonstrated commercial experience in SQL (MSSQL or PostgreSQL)
- 3+ years of experience in software development roles
- Degree in Computer Science or similar discipline (or international equivalent)
- Permanent residency status in Australia
Highly Desirable Skills
- Experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent time management and project management skills
- Team player with excellent verbal and written English communication skills
