Bank Specialist Manager

The Bank Specialist Manager has an integral role within Bank Governance to execute and monitor the governance and risk management practices across the Bank. This role is responsible for delivering on core activities across a large span of influence, including Financial Accountability Regime (FAR), Business Continuity Management, Remediation and Learning Governance.

The role reports to the Executive Manager Bank Governance, and is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring key governance requirements across Suncorp Bank. This includes ensuring that our Frameworks remain fit for purpose, effective, efficient and aligned with the Bank’s strategic objectives.

The role has direct engagement with Senior Management and reporting responsibilities across Bank Committees.

What you’ll do

• Develop and maintain governance frameworks, standards, procedures and that reflect best practices and comply with the Bank's legal and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the implementation and execution of governance frameworks across the Bank, including but not limited to, business continuity management, financial accountabilities regime, learning governance, product, process, risk appetite and remediation for the Bank.
• Act as the business continuity officer for the Bank and ensure the development, implementation and testing of business continuity plans and procedures.
• Coordinate the response and recovery activities in the event of a business disruption and ensure the continuity of critical functions and services.
• Provide training and awareness to staff and stakeholders on business continuity management and their roles and responsibilities.
  Monitor and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of governance frameworks and identify areas for improvement and enhancement.
• Provide advice, guidance and support to senior managers and business units on governance matters and ensure compliance with governance requirements.
• Facilitate and coordinate working groups to ensure timely and accurate escalation and management of governance issues and risks.
• Manage and develop a team of governance professionals and foster a culture of governance excellence and accountability.
• Drive the uplift and simplification for all accountabilities across the team.
• Complete ad-hoc work as required to support the delivery of Suncorp Bank strategic objectives.

 What you’ll bring

• University level qualification in related field.
• 10+ years of experience in governance, risk management, compliance or audit within the banking or financial services industry.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of Suncorp Frameworks and Standards, principles and practices and their application in a complex and dynamic environment.
• Superior stakeholder skills, including co-ordination of key programs of work or projects.
• Strong leadership experience, including communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills and the ability to drive change and innovation.
• High level of analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
