The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 1 & 2 Barista and Head Barista within Commercial Operations Branch.
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking customer focused, passionate and hardworking people, to support and grow the catering and events businesses at Australian Parliament House. The APH Catering and Events Team deliver high quality food and beverage services to building occupants and visitors that showcase products of the local region and position APH as a destination of choice.
Baristas and Head Baristas are required for the APH Catering and Events Team responsible for a sustainable catering model which is capable of delivering over 500,000 covers annually. Peak service times are Monday – Thursday on parliamentary sitting weeks (approximately 20 weeks per year) and Australian Parliament House is open every day except Christmas Day.

Our ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a skilled barista, with a passion for coffee and knowledge of various brewing techniques.
- Demonstrated relevant experience in a customer service role, with a keen ability to anticipate and meet the needs of both internal and external guests.
- Impeccable communication skills, friendly demeanour, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of safe food handling, HACCP and compliance regulations and procedures
Eligibility, qualifications and/or other requirements:
- A current Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate. If not currently held, this certificate must be obtained and be maintained
- Qualifications in hospitality or retail catering are highly desirable, showcasing your dedication to the industry are highly desirable
- The occupant of this position must be willing to work according to a roster and work overtime if required. Penalty and overtime rates apply.
- The occupant of this position is required to wear a uniform as directed and present in a professional manner at all times when on duty.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.
