The Opportunity:
Barminco Mine Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity to join our Shaft Services Crew.
- This position works a rotation of 7-days on / 7-days off
- Shifts are days and nights.
Reporting to the Shaft Services Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and the safety of their co-workers while ensuring the safe transportation of personnel and material from the surface to the underground and back.
More specifically, the Shaft Services Crew will:
- Follow all safety and standard operating procedures to operate hoists, skips and crushers in an underground environment
- Perform pre-start safety inspections of equipment and report any issues to their supervisor and maintenance crew
- Operate the hoist to transport personnel, goods and waste/ore to and from the underground mine
- Operate ore crushers underground to crush waste/ore material in preparation for transport to surface
- Operate underground conveyor systems (skips) to transport waste/ore material to surface
- Operate other mining equipment as required from time to time such as loaders, jack-leg drills among others
- Other general duties as required
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalency
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an underground mine
- Previous experience operating mobile equipment underground such as trucks, loaders, jack-legs would be an asset
- Previous experience operating conveyors, hoists would be an asset
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Strong communications skills, verbal and written, and must be computer/systems literate
- Be flexible and willing to assist with a variety of tasks as required
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
