We are a Positive Behaviour Support team in Sydney, who use person-centred, and evidence based approaches to enable community and social participation. Our focus is creating a better quality of life for our clients, working with each person’s interests and goals.
This is a great opportunity to use your Positive Behaviour Support skills to evaluate, develop and deliver evidence-based support plans within a complex support space. This role will ensure individual plans reflect NDIS participants' passions and interests and promotes their quality of life with support from their community.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality positive behavioural support services to NDIS clients in Sydney, predominantly in Western Sydney, Parramatta and surrounds. Our 2include practitioners pride themselves on high quality Behaviour Support programs focussing on quality and not quantity. Our practitioners will work closely with a team of therapists, educators and caregivers to help participants develop the skills they need to participate fully in their daily activities and reach their full potential. Our hands-on approach to implementation and monitoring is the essence in creating positive outcomes for our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals and their families to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning to develop meaningful goals and practical strategies to support people in their home and community.
- Develop Behaviour Support Plans utilising a positive Behaviour Support framework with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, that comply with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, NDIS Behaviour Support Rules 2018 and OH&S legislation.
- Work collaboratively within a small, cohesive team environment
- Available to work a minimum of 15 hours a week or 3 days per week
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Teaching, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, or Health Sciences)
- Proficient, Advanced or Specialist status as an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner. Core status may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience working with people with complex needs and challenging behaviours
- Extensive experience working with people with a disability who exhibit behaviours of concern
- Knowledge and experience implementing of the concepts and principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Understanding of the NDIS and the service delivery model
- NSW Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Clearance
- Behaviour Support Practitioners are required to hold a Practitioner ID Number before delivering NDIS services.
- Covid-19 Vaccinations
- Completed a degree level qualification in education or an allied health profession (OT/Speech Pathology/Social Work/Psychology) is also highly regarded
