Who are we?

The newest division of the Ahrens family of brands which was acquired in early 2021 to further expand our offering in water storage solutions, joining existing water storage brands Pioneers Water Tanks and Southern Cross Water. Altanks specialise in highly efficient round and rectangular tank designs for fire storage, water treatment, mine sites, potable water and rainwater harvesting. Altanks team install and service tanks in all parts of Asia, every state and territory in Australia and every climatic condition.

What are we looking for?

Altanks are seeking a permanent part-time, or full-time, Welder to join the manufacturing team at our Burleigh Heads workshop. The successful candidate will have a passion for, and experience in, Boilermaking/Welding. This is a great opportunity for an individual looking for a position with a schedule that accommodates to their needs.

What we want you to do

• Read drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications;
• Competently and safely carry out manual or semi-automatic MIG welding to the required specifications and Australian Standards;
• Competently set up and operate hand and power tools common to the fabrication trade such as grinders and drills;
• Mark-out, cut/drill/punch holes as required for plate material in accordance with fabrication drawings;
• Layout, position, align and assemble components together in accordance with fabrication drawings and tolerances;
• Mechanical cutting of steel and compiling of cutting lists from fabrication drawings;
• Measure and cut raw materials with straightedges and high accuracy;
• Perform general housekeeping and maintenance of work areas, equipment, tools and facilities;
• Examine work for defects, and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications;
• Safely and efficiently undertake all other reasonable duties in the workshop, areas as directed by Management.

Is this you?

• Trade Qualification in Boilermaking / Welding and experience in a similar position, or able to provide sufficient practical experience to complete the required tasks;
• Be able to read, interpret and fabricate from workshop drawings;
• Driver’s Licence;
• Strong aptitude in the MIG weld process as well as ability to perform various types of weld procedures;
• Demonstrated safety awareness with understanding of OH&S practices;
• Organisation skills, with efficient & productive work ability;
• Willingness to work reasonable overtime when required;

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team;
• Ability to work autonomously and problem solve where required;
• Ability to work towards a deadline and deliver high quality work within that deadline;
• Forklift Licence (desirable).
