ABOUT THE ROLE - Why we need Boilermakers & 1st Class Welders

As we continue to grow, we are actively investing in our people, systems & processes. We are committed to being progressive & delivering innovative product solutions.

Due to our strong reputation we have a high work load. We are looking for experienced Boilermakers & Welders for long term work.

All work takes place at T.W. Woods site at Tomago.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Quality
    • Highest Quality of the products you are producing
    • Checking parts for accuracy and correct set up before welding
    • Ensure any defects are rectified before passing to the next stage of production.
  • Safety
    • Work safely with awareness of your impact on others around you and their possible impact on you
    • Follow company policies and procedures including wearing correct PPE, and reporting injuries / incidents, etc
    • Identify and eliminate potential work hazards including keeping the work areas clean and machinery & equipment is well-maintained
    • Assist and participate in training in safety procedures
    • Tag defective equipment and inform management of equipment needing repair
    • Co-operate with workplace injury and return to work programs.
  • Materials & Tools
    • Provide and maintain personal tools for undertaking trades duties.
    • Take care of specialty tools provided by TW Woods.
    • Ensure all Materials required for new jobs is available when needed
  • Productivity
    • Work in an efficient manner, minimizing the time required to produce the work allocated.
    • Plan your work to minimize non-productive time and re-work errors.
    • Capable in use of all equipment for the role including Welding, Oxy Cutting, Grinding, Drilling, Plasma Cutting, to the nominated standards required etc
    • Capable of interpreting fabrication drawings
    • Producing layouts for fabrication
    • Undertake full range of duties as required including specialized equipment where trained
    • Conduct work in confined spaces when suitably trained
  • Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues
    • Where trained use forklifts or cranes for moving parts.
    • From time to time additional responsibilities may be included in order to benefit the progress of the business including work at another site when mutually acceptable. All employees are expected to work as a team to achieve the company goals and occasionally perform tasks outside their normal roles.
  • Apprentices
    • Assistance with guiding them through their training
  • Systems
    • Ensure the maintenance and continuous update of the business management system by following all business processes.

Skills and experience in the following areas will be highly regarded:

  • Several years of real-life experience in a manufacturing/construction environment as a Boilermaker/Welder.
