As a Bone Density Technician you are responsible for performing Bone Density examinations to diagnose osteoporosis and other disorders. You must have a strong understanding of radiology principles and be able to accurately interpret test results.
This is a part time position working Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in our Christies Beach and Glenelg clinics. Full time may be considered.
You will love working in a fast-paced environment and have a proven understanding of patient centred care and confidentiality. Your key responsibilities will be:
- Operate dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) equipment to perform Bone Density scans
- Position patients for scans and ensure their comfort and safety during the procedure
- Monitor patients for adverse events during the scan
- Follow established protocols for radiation safety and control
- Maintain accurate records of test results and patient information
- Communicate test results to physicians or other healthcare providers as needed
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs
- Stay current with advancements in technology and techniques
You must have completed a Health Science related degree, and have a working knowledge of anatomy. You will also be required to have a valid Working with Children Clearance and National Police Clearance.
You must have, or be willing to obtain, an EPA Licence to Operate an Ionising Radiation Apparatus (Section 31) prior to commencing in this role.
