Job description

Heading & Associates are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Payroll Officer to join our Melbourne team. We are one of Australia's leading multi-disciplinary surveying firms specialising in engineering and roads surveys, project management, property and environmental surveys, design applications, automated deformation monitoring, 3D laser scanning and dilapidation surveys. 

We require an enthusiastic, mature and well organised Bookkeeper / Payroll Officer to join its team in Kensington.  The responsibilities of this role are varied as the successful candidate will be predominantly responsible for Payroll preparation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and assistance with month end.

The successful candidate will have a professional and friendly attitude who will thrive working in a team environment where deadlines need to be met.  It is also essential that the successful candidate have the ability to be organised, manage a diverse number of stakeholders, think outside the square, take initiative and hit the ground running.

Your written and verbal skills must be excellent. We are looking for someone wanting a demanding position where they can take ownership of their role and make a difference.

Principal responsibilities:

The role involves but is not limited to:

  • Payroll and on costs preparation /remittance,
  • Bank account reconciliations,
  • Entering purchase orders / invoices,
  • Supplier invoice matching with purchase orders,
  • AP reconciliations with supplier statements,
  • Credit card reconciliations,
  • Accounts payable,
  • Sales invoicing,
  • Accounts receivable,
  • Debt collection,
  • General ledger reconciliations,
  • Administration,
  • BAS preparation and
  • Assistance with month end.

Mandatory qualifications, skill and experience:

Tertiary Accounting qualification desirable but not essential.
At least 4 years' experience in a similar role, including Accounts, Payroll, GST and Reconciliations.
Ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and eye for detail
Proficient in MYOB (AccountRight), EXCEL, WORD and Outlook - at least 4 years’ experience.
