Job Description: We are seeking an experienced bookkeeper to join our office team of 3-5 staff members on a part-time basis or as an independent contractor. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, including invoicing clients, handling accounts payable and accounts receivable, and ensuring our customers remain up to date with payments.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain accurate records of financial transactions using Xero accounting software.
- Generate and send invoices to clients in a timely manner.
- Track and follow up on accounts receivable, ensuring prompt payment from customers.
- Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices and employee reimbursements.
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
- Initiate and maintain friendly and professional communication with customers regarding outstanding accounts, payment reminders, and resolution of payment issues.
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for management as needed.
- Assist with other accounting tasks and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Multiple years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software is essential.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers via phone and email..
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Previous experience in customer service or collections is a plus.
