Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Bookkeeping Supervisor to manage the provision of bookkeeping services by Tate Partners.  A seasoned practitioner, you will oversee the provision of work performed by our team members, to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with company policy, in a timely and accurate manner. In addition, you will perform complex bookkeeping tasks as required and engage in a range of business development initiatives to support the ongoing growth of the bookkeeping function.  The ability to build strong relationships with our clients and internal teams is essential to the role.

Position flexibility

The nature of this role allows us to offer some flexibility in relation to working hours for the right candidate. We are open to discussing candidates interested in a full time or a part time position or even a hybrid position with the ability to work both from the office and remotely.

Role overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and client centric individual to become a vital part of our team.
The successful applicant will be confident in their ability to build relationships with both clients and internal team members, as well as a proven capacity to work autonomously as well as part of a team.  They will have excellent time and team management skills, along with a strong eye for detail, and be confident in communicating directly with clients and internal stakeholders. In addition, they will be up to speed with changes to legislation, accounting software and be able to train the internal team on same.

Ideally, the preferred candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of Australian-based bookkeeping/accounting experience including payroll, and a considerable amount of experience with Xero accounting software and be Xero certified. 

Qualifications and skills

  • Relevant bookkeeping/accounting qualifications and/or proven experience.
  • Proficiency in using Xero accounting software.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of compliance obligations.
  • Prior experience with people management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word)
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, demonstrating an understanding of client confidentiality.
  • Quick learner with a demonstrated ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Strong organisational and administrative capabilities.
  • Effective prioritisation, deadline management, and performance under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Committed and dedicated work ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities (written and verbal).

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and current business transactions and records for clients.
  • Process payroll for employees and contractors, ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in fulfilling administrative and compliance requirements for the firm.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies such as ATO and State Revenue Office on compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and service delivery.
  • Prepare comprehensive weekly and month-end reports and reconciliations.
  • Handle ATO payments for BAS, Superannuation, Single Touch Payroll, and FBT.
  • Address client queries promptly and accurately.
  • Build relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Manage a team of three bookkeeping specialists.
  • Ensure all assignments are carried out on time and budget with the highest quality.
  • Keep abreast with legislative and software changes and provide training to internal team.
