Job description

Regional Operations | Ac North & Detention | Abf Workforce Management | Chief of Staff

Operations NT is accountable to the Assistant Commissioner North for the conduct of efficient and effective customs, migration, surveillance, patrol and response activities in the Northern Territory's remote onshore and littoral operating domains.

Operations NT is responsible for maintaining control of persons, goods, vessels and small-craft through activities in the Northern Territory's in-shore maritime environment outside of seaport limits.

Operations NT delivers functions through border enforcement and operational activities on cross-border movements of people and goods in a number of operational areas, including international airports, seaports and cargo facilities.

Operations NT plays a vital role processing travellers and goods to protect the Northern Territory's border from the entry of illegal and harmful goods and those intending to commit migration fraud or threaten the national interest. This includes processing travellers and goods arriving and departing Australia outside of major metropolitan airports and seaports, such as, vessels and small craft at remote seaports and light aircraft at regional airfields

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead a high performing team, ensuring team members are valued, engaged, developed and challenged
  • Co-ordinate and prioritise workload in the context of competing priorities
  • Communicate confidently and present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner
  • Coordinate, and monitor capability of officers within Operations NT
  • Provide mentoring, training and guidance to candidates in Indigenous Apprenticeships program and other junior staff

Eligibility

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting  (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
