The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Orrcon Steel business as our Branch Manager in Cairns and be a key member of our Queensland leadership team. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands.

Overseeing our Cairns branch and reporting to the State Manager, you will nurture and grow partnerships with our valued customers across a broad territory. This opportunity will lead a cross-functional team encompassing external sales, customer service and operations, which makes a significant contribution to our Queensland state business plan.

You’ll invest time in coaching and motivating your team – strengthening their capability to deliver enhanced outcomes in the rural and infrastructure sectors across FNQ.

What Will You Do?

You’ll ensure we can continue to deliver world-class service and product solutions for our customers, now and for the future.

To achieve this, you will:

• inspire and lead the delivery of the branch business plan and budget: continue to develop, implement, and oversee a commercially astute business plan, striving to exceed volume, margin and profit targets
• develop Orrcon’s market share and build meaningful customer relationships: identify new business growth opportunities and continue to grow collaborative partnerships with our existing customers that will strengthen the future of the Cairns business
• set business objectives and operating standards: establish and communicate clear objectives and work standards, sharing and celebrating progress 
• foster an inclusive high-performing team: coach and motivate your team to ensure high capability, performance and engagement levels
• achieve optimal safety and operational outcomes: ensure effective processes and procedures are in place to keep our people safe and the site compliant with relevant acts, legislation and business policies

• demonstrated ability to build meaningful customer solutions that deliver measurable outcomes for customers and the business

• the ability to build constructive partnerships with internal peers and functions
• excellent commercial acumen skills including an understanding of pricing and margin and its impact on profitability
