Job description

The Gracie Barra Surfers Paradise School was founded in 2018 and is recognized in the Martial Art community for teaching the highest level of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We have become a strong reference point in physical education, character development & self-defense.

We offer a position for the Head Coach.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Head Coach, your responsibilities will include:

  • Teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes to adults and children as per Gracie Barra guidelines
  • Align the school with GB Oceania guidelines;
  • Create a positive and welcoming environment for students at all times and build relationships with all students, including parents of children who are students at the school;
  • Monitor training of students on the mats to ensure their safety and progress;
  • Develop an internal communication strategy which will ensure students and parents are always aware of school policies, programs and extra activities;
  • Ensures the attendance of students are accurately marked and transferred to the appropriate database;
  • Effectively handles student's complaints and suggestions and report back to senior management;
  • Grow the school numbers and reputation by providing high quality service and coaching and by developing and managing a marketing program;
  • Contact existing students to motivate them if they are not regularly attending training;
  • Build a small team of assistant coaches as required to support you;
  • Participate in curriculum and other development programs; 
  • Directly supervise the position of Program Director;
  • Perform other duties as may arise from time to time.
     

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:
Essential Qualifications

  • A Certificate III  in any highly relevant field of study will be highly considered; and
  • Black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu certified by IBJJF and Gracie Barra.

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a BJJ Black Belt;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Blue card to work with children;
  • First aid qualification;
  • Familiar with Gracie Barra Instructor Certification Program;
  • Ability to work autonomously.
