Position Objective
It is our vision that every individual discovers meaning, purpose and life in Jesus. The Communities and Discipleship Pastor’s role contributes to this mission in two ways. Firstly, by ensuring people find meaningful connection at Hope Centre and feel a genuine sense of belonging through various kinds of groups such as Lifegroups, Communities, volunteer serving teams and short courses. Secondly, by overseeing the development, implementation and growth of discipleship pathways, programs, and opportunities, this person helps people follow Jesus well within the context and framework of a welcoming community and authentic relationships.
Summary
Job Title: Brisbane Communities and Discipleship Pastor
Hours: Full-Time 38 Hours/week (Sunday-Thursday)
Reports To: Luke Neale (Brisbane Location Pastor)

Position-Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and lead volunteer teams to outwork our New People process to identify, welcome and integrate people who are new to Hope Centre, reinforcing a culture of 'welcome' in volunteers and the congregation as a whole
- Monitor the health of and develop strategies to help increase involvement in all groups including Lifegroups, Communities, volunteer teams and short courses.
- Organise regular opportunities that help new people connect more deeply with Pastors and other service attenders
- Engage with service attenders not yet well connected and provide opportunities for them to join a Lifegroup, Community or a volunteer team to build relationship with others
- Develop and schedule training to equip new and existing Lifegroup leaders to run groups which align with Hope Centre’s vision to be Safe, Spiritual and Stretching.
- Build relationships with group leaders, providing them with pastoral care and guidance for difficult situations which may arise within the groups they lead
- Develop and oversee Alpha and other discipleship programs and pathways, identifying and empowering key volunteers to assist in leading these opportunities in specific regions
Core Pastoral Responsibilities
- Shepherd and support those within your ministry with the primary aim to help them develop and flourish in their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Acts 20:28)
- Provide pastoral care to those belonging to your ministry, liaising with your location pastor when necessary.
- Identify and raise up key leaders and empower them to lead the areas of ministry under your supervision (Ephesians 4:11-13)
- Be responsible for the rostering, communication, and general care of your teams to ensure they have everything they need to serve well
- Manage budgets and finances of the ministry you lead within the guidelines and processes outlined by the Hope Centre Finance Team
- Manage physical resources (such as rooms, vehicles and other equipment) associated with the ministry you lead
- Participate in all location team meetings and events
- Collaborate with team members responsible for the same ministry at other locations to develop a strategic approach to the ministry across all Hope Centre locations
- Perform pastoral and ceremonial duties as a Minister of Religion as required

The person we’re looking for
Has a deep love for Jesus and His people and has 3+ years' ministry or leadership experience. We expect that this person has a high level of initiative and ability to take a proactive approach to work. This person must hold a QLD working with children “Blue Card”, and a current Australian Christian Churches credential (or be eligible to apply for one).
