About National Trust Queensland, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary & Garima Conservation Reserve
Garima Conservation Reserve is a tranquil and naturally heavily forested conservation reserve located in the Currumbin Valley. This 27-hectare wonderland features sub-tropical rainforests, running streams and views of the Mt. Cougal section of the world heritage listed Springbrook National Park. NTAQ operates the reserve as a conservation facility for important species of wildlife, continues restoration efforts to provide essential habitat for native species and ensures the property is safe guarded for future generations. We have an opportunity for an experienced Bush Regeneration Officer who has a passion for conservation of both native flora and fauna.
About the Role
As a passionate Bush Regeneration Officer, reporting to the Garima Horticulture Manager, you will be responsible for undertaking field-based projects and land regeneration duties. You will be experienced in Bush Regeneration, enjoy working both autonomously and in a team environment and be comfortable working in a semi-rural location.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have an excellent understanding of native flora and fauna and have proven experience in vegetation management and Bush Regeneration.
Other key skills and qualifications we are looking for include:
- Certificate III in Horticulture or Conservation and Land Management required.
- Ability to follow a vegetation management plan to perform regeneration and revegetation activities including weed control and planting.
- Ability to perform daily tasks as directed including, planting, mulching, , spraying, , brush cutting and erosion control landscape.
- Undertake Bush Regeneration and revegetation duties throughout and around the grounds.
- Work well in a wider team to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to supervise and coordinate a team of volunteers.
- Ability to comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Current manual driver’s license required.
- ACDC spraying licence, MR licence, Bobcat & Excavator licence is highly desirable
