About the role
In this role, you will develop, implement, and ensure best practice processes for conducting Business Analysis activities for complex pieces of work across the organisation. 

Work type: Permanent, full-time
Classification: $140,410 – 143,000 base plus Superannuation

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establish and lead the Business Analysis practice, ensuring alignment with CoGG’s strategic goals and best practices.
  • Identifying and documenting functional and non-functional business requirements in a concise, accurate, unambiguous, and timely manner.
  • Working closely with departments and undertaking enterprise analysis and discovery activities to help inform prioritisation decisions.
  • Leading and coordinating the activities and efforts of business analysts across multiple projects.
  • Facilitating communication between the relevant departments, technology teams and support teams to ensure that business solutions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Providing expert advice on business process improvements and reengineering and where appropriate align to solutions that can be delivered within the selected enterprise technology.
  • Supporting the Project Manager(s) through all phases of the project lifecycle, contributing to risk management identification and issues management.
  • Promoting and actively contributing to the department’s common goals and key priorities by involving relevant stakeholders and team members in decision making.
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues and team members, uplifting department’s capabilities to meet the requirements of its future strategic goals.
  • Aligning work activities to the department Business Plans and Strategy, leading implementation and balancing value for our community and customers, within financial and resource constraints.
  • Analysing and reporting accurate data to regularly report on performance against departmental goals.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have Significant Professional experience in Business Analysis, preferably within a Local Government or Public Sector setting.

Essential Experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in IT, Business (BA Major) or similar fields with significant professional experience in a comparable organisation.
  • Working knowledge of Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK), Agile delivery framework and Prince2 project management methodology.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the Business Analysis practice and coaching/mentoring the other business analyst within the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement best practice Business Analysis processes and build resource capability.
  • Experience on high profile projects with multiple enterprise wide integrated and inter-related systems.
  • Extensive experience identifying and documenting both business and system requirements on major ICT projects.
  • Experience in business process redesign/re-engineering and implementation.
  • Sound understanding of contemporary change management processes pertaining to complex ICT projects.
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills in an ICT environment working with complex and/or challenging internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively and influence across all levels of an organisation, including high level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in coaching and mentoring the Business Analysis SMEs.
