IMG provides business services to support the development, growth, and sustainability of Aboriginal organisations. We bring together broad technical skills, industry experience, proven performance with Aboriginal business services, and building and maintaining stakeholder relations through our work.

IMG is delivering the WA Trading Tracks program across the Pilbara that aims to enhance economic participation of locally based, small-to-medium Indigenous businesses, creating strong, sustainable local Indigenous businesses by building capability and capacity and providing sound strategic business advice.

The Position

The Business Engagement Officer is responsible for:

  • Building and strengthening business participation in WA Trading Tracks program and activities.
  • Effectively onboarding businesses into the WA Trading Tracks program.
  • Supporting program events and other activities to positively promote the program.
  • Communicating with local Aboriginal businesses, key stakeholders, and the wider community in promotion of WA Trading Tracks.
  • Assisting with industry engagement, including the promotion and coordination of local business events.
  • Engaging and maintaining relationships with local community stakeholders.
  • Assisting with projects to positively promote, grow, and improve the program.
  • Reporting on activities and related administrative duties.

This position reports to the Program Coordinator based in Port Hedland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with staff, the local community, and other key stakeholders to build and share knowledge of, and response to, the motivators, challenges and barriers to optimal cultural competency, engagement, and participation within the local context. 
  • Maintain, support, engage, and connect current community organisations.
  • Communicate effectively with individual community members, listening to the voices, understanding perspectives and current community matters, that have the potential to impact the achievement of Aboriginal engagement and participation objectives.
  • Support achieving and maintaining local Aboriginal employment and business participation for WA Trading Tracks.
  • Support the program with client appointments, room bookings and support and maintenance of databases.
  • Professionally undertake reception duties, including answering telephone and welcoming clients and visitors.
  • Provide general administrative support including producing, photocopying, and filing of correspondence and documentation as requested.
Requirements
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry
  • Adaptable communication skills, able to communicate with Aboriginal people who speak English as a second language.
  • Knowledge and experience with Pilbara Traditional Owner people, communities, and cultures.
  • Port Hedland Resident (No Fly-In Fly-Out).
  • Hold and maintain a valid Western Australian Drivers’ Licence.
  • Certificate III in Business, Business Administration, or similar (Desirable not Essential)
