Business Systems Analyst
About the opportunity
The Business Systems Analysts are responsible for the management of the University’s core student information systems as well as oversight of the business processes that support the student lifecycle. The team provides user support, training and system administration functions, as well as business process analysis and continuous improvement capability across all academic administrative functions within the University.
The Business Analyst team is responsible for allocated student lifecycle portfolios which includes a number of business areas and functions across the institution. The Business Systems Analyst will develop an expert knowledge of business processes and supporting student systems. The analyst will work closely with assigned business units to investigate and resolve issues, identify and workshop opportunities for improvement, prototype and test changes to configuration and monitor developments in future software releases relevant to their portfolio.
You will also be responsible for maintaining process documentation, training documentation and procedures in conjunction with the relevant business areas. The role will also undertake a range of highly specialised or restricted system configuration or data processing tasks.
As this position involves University-wide engagement and interaction, some travel between Hobart, Launceston and Burnie campuses may be required. Occasional interstate travel may also be necessary.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and maintain an expert knowledge of current and future student systems and business processes for the student lifecycle portfolio, as well as a solid understanding of links to other portfolio areas.
- Develop and maintain documentation for the allocated student lifecycle portfolios as part of the University repository of academic administrative business processes, procedures and work instructions.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to business areas within the student lifecycle portfolio, including investigation and resolution of “Tier 2” issues, advice on business process and use of supporting systems, identification and workshopping of improvement initiatives and advanced troubleshooting.
- Identify opportunities for business process improvements.
- Engage and consult with a broad range of stakeholders across the institution.

Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $123,548 comprising base salary within the range of $96,071 to $105,597 plus 17% superannuation.
