The purpose of this role is to provide a balanced assortment of merchandise and manage third party range selections to achieve sales budgets, margin, and stock levels.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the range building and selection process for third party brands, including ownership of key category ranges
- Provide strategic direction through product and brand architecture
- Provide support and direction to other buyers to ensure best overall third party and private label brand assortment
- Interpret and analyse relevant data to identify trends and inform future buys
- Manage supplier relationships including terms negotiations, buy preparation, and follow up
- Attend previews to evaluate seasonal ranges according to each business group requirements
- Manage in-season performance objectives through detailed sales analysis of business performance, leading ideas and support for strategic, promotional and clearance initiatives including end of season sales
- Critically evaluate financial and product attribute information
- Prepare buying information and documentation in support of in-season, pre-season, post seasonal and future buy plans and in collaboration with the planning team
- Develop networks and provide insights into customer demand, trends, preferences, and opportunities and work closely with the planning, marketing and retail team in support of product knowledge and achieving sell through (including regular store visits).
- Provide leadership support in the buying department
The skills and experience we are looking for:
- You have 5+ years’ experience in a retail buying role
- Experience working with 3rd party suppliers
- Analytical thinker and high-level attention to detail
- Organized and well prepared, with the ability to manage multiple project simultaneously
- Excel well under pressure
- Resilient and open to feedback
- Excellent communicator and decision maker
- Willing and eager to share ideas
- Data driven and love getting the most out of your numbers
