The Cabin Systems Specialist is responsible for the oversight and timely resolution of aircraft defect tasks critical to the operations and customer experience.
The Cabin System Specialist monitors a number of complex Cabin Systems (including SCS and ICS) that have the ability to detrimentally impact customer experience due poor reliability or extended periods of un-serviceability. This role is critical in ensure system health does not degrade to the point it becomes unreliable or un-serviceable. This includes proactively monitoring system health through telemetry software that enables performance and operating parameters of critical aircraft systems to be monitored remotely. This role will also monitor operating crew and maintenance reports, whilst liaison with key stakeholders to ensure the appropriate reactive and preventive maintenance is ready to be accomplished during appropriate maintenance opportunities.
The role will also ensure successful rectification of defects through supporting detailed technical troubleshooting and fault isolation that enables targeted component replacement within Cabin Systems.
The successful candidate will:
Working knowledge and experience of applicable Civil Aviation Regulations and other regulations governing industrial workforce management (OH&S, Industrial Relations, Environment, EEO etc.).
5+ years relevant trade or technical experience.
Specialised knowledge of aircraft in the Qantas fleet.
Understanding of applicable aircraft system health and its criticality to operations.
Familiarity with complex Cabin Systems such as Supplementary Cooling System (SCS) and/or Integrated Cooling System (ICS) is preferred.
Prior experience with proprietary aircraft health monitoring software is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of maintenance program and aircraft maintenance processes to ensure compliant and timely resolution of defects.
Demonstrated experience in developing and managing to agreed and measurable performance thresholds.
Proven track record in planning, & business management and understanding of quality systems.
Strong key stakeholder management and ability to influence maintenance directives with MOC, Supply Chain and Base/Line Maintenance.
Familiarity with applicable PC office and specialist software packages
Sound communication skills, written and oral with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels within a team
The ability to prioritise and manage multiple conflicting deadlines, still with attention to detail
A team focused approach, with demonstrated commitment to proactively finding solutions to problems
