- Interpreting Designs: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and design specifications to understand the requirements for each cabinetry project.
- Material Selection: Select appropriate materials, including wood, melamine, particleboard, laminate, hardware, and other components, based on design requirements and quality standards.
- Woodworking: Utilize woodworking tools and machinery to cut, shape, and assemble various components to construct cabinets, ensuring precision and accuracy in measurements and cuts.
- Cabinet Construction: Construct cabinets, including frames, panels, doors, benchtops, laminating, and drawers, using appropriate techniques such as joinery, gluing, and fastening.
- Finishing: Apply finishes, such as stains, paints, or varnishes, to enhance the appearance of the cabinets and protect the surfaces.
- Quality Control: Conduct quality checks throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that cabinets meet specifications, standards, and quality expectations.
- Installation Preparation: Prepare cabinets for installation by ensuring proper fit, alignment, and functionality, and making any necessary adjustments or modifications.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations and practices to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, including designers, installers, and supervisors, to coordinate projects and ensure timely completion.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials used, work hours, and project progress to facilitate project tracking and reporting.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients or project stakeholders as needed to address questions, provide updates, and ensure customer satisfaction with the finished products.
- AQF Certificate III or AQF Certificate IV in Cabinet
Making or relevant qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience as a Cabinet Maker or in a related role within the woodworking industry.
- Proficiency in various woodworking techniques and tools, with a focus on precision and quality craftsmanship.
- Strong understanding of cabinet making processes, materials, and finishes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce high-quality cabinetry.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering flawless finished products.
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations related to woodworking operations.
