About the company:
We are a consulting engineering business that specializes in designing timber structures and bridges. More specifically we undertake new construction and historic restoration design work implementing modern methods and through our quality programs, validating our designs and recommended construction methods via physical testing and structural health monitoring projects. Our inquisitive nature sees us ideally placed to lead industry defining field research and proof engineering as our clients may require. Over the past 10 years, we have worked closely with a construction company that restores, upgrades and replaces timber bridges and structures, providing designs for D&C projects as well as performing bridge inspections and delivering associated reports. With offices in the USA and Canada, our engineers and CAD team have often worked on overseas projects to compliment the workloads from those offices.
About the role:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cad Drafter to develop and draft timber restoration repairs and new construction drawings for a variety of structures. This position reports to the Senior Engineer and will work full time from our Deception Bay office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document projects from test fit to completion including conceptual sketches, construction documentation, schedules and as-builts under the direction of engineers,
- Implement and set examples for best practice, BCA, DDA regulations,
- Enhance the team’s delivery by owning commercial projects from concept to completion,
- Assist the design team with project documentation needs,
- Prepare design works for various commercial projects and ensure quality outcomes which can be manufactured efficiently,
- Work closely with Project Managers to obtain sign off and deliver project requirements in a timely manner,
- Ensure all drawing and naming/ file protocols are met,
- Work within time restraints of the customer and of project site works,
- Facilitate scope change & amendment management and communication,
- Ensure change orders and scope request changes dealt with effectively and efficiently,
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting (minimum),
- AutoCAD Competency Certificates would be advantageous,
- High level of AutoCAD,
- Drawing/computer literacy,
- 3 + years engineering drafting experience in a similar position,
- Experience with technical drawing & interior package documentation,
- Must have a strong knowledge of BCA standards,
- Good negotiation and task management skills,
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and work towards deadlines,
- Relationship management skills,
- Conflict resolution skills,
- Resource allocation experience,
- Time management skills,
