The purpose of the Cadet (Design) is to assist with the development of planning and design projects as components of transport infrastructure projects. You will operate in a multidisciplinary team environment that provides road design support to the transport infrastructure area in the District.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Under Supervision:
o Assist in the development and costing of transport infrastructure design models in the concept, development and delivery phases of transport infrastructure projects.
o Develop capability in the use of specialist Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) software applications such as 12d and AutoCAD.
o Develop an awareness of relevant planning and design principles, policies, standards, and guidelines to be applied when developing project models.
o Under supervision, undertake various planning and design activities for road projects to ensure successful completion within time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations.
o Assist in the management of planning and design projects using project management principles by monitoring and reporting to the team leader/supervisor on the status of assigned project activities.
- Attend all required classes (including lectures, tutorials and practicals) and pass and successfully complete all examinations and assessments required to obtain your qualification, as described under 'mandatory requirements'.

Mandatory Requirements
- Cadets are required to be studying or enrolled in:
o Associate Degree of Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualification, accredited under the Dublin Accord.
Desirable Requirements
- Valid Queensland 'C' class drivers licence or equivalent.
