Cadet Estimator

Our firm is a successful family-owned Retaining/Civil works Contracting company based in South East Queensland, seeking an experienced highly motivated Cadet Estimator looking to gain experience in Design and Construction of Retaining Wall projects to join our fast-growing dynamic team.

The Cadet Estimating role will include examining and interpreting plans with the Senior Estimator (to understand the scope of works and then prepare a detailed and accurate BOQ, and tender spreadsheets). 

To be able to analyse labour, materials handling, scaffolding requirements, overall preliminaries and other risks associated with each project and review with the Senior Estimator and Divisional Managers.

Reporting to the Senior Estimator (and Senior Management), the successful candidate’s role would include:

• Review and assess tenders with the senior estimator, ensuring all tender documents are received and are correct. 
• Review tender documents assessing scope, risks involved, tender complexity and provide feedback to the Senior Estimator. 
• In- conjunction with Senior Estimator, conduct site inspections for tender understanding, analysis of conditions, assessment of risk and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in the tender documents. 
• Calculate and prepare quantities in conjunction with the Senior Estimator. 
• Compile letter of offer, tender schedules, program and other items required for the tender. 
• Liaise with client on an ongoing basis to determine progress of tender. 
• Make tender amendments where applicable utilising client feedback on submitted tender 

This fulltime position requires a broad knowledge of Estimating, which includes the design of quantifying/estimating to operations then final delivery with certification.  Excellent understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Excel,  and various estimating software, CostX skills preferred.  You will be required to occasionally visit sites and to liaise constantly with site management to ensure that there is accurate reporting to the QLD Manager and Directors.

This position would ideally suit someone with interest in an estimating role, and with a tertiary construction qualification, and would benefit being from a civil engineering background.
