Camp Caretaker (Daytime)

JJJ Infrastructure operates within local government and private residential building works, with a FIFO/DIDO workforce across Queensland and the Northern Territory. We are recruiting for a Daytime Camp Caretaker for our newly built Company-owned facility in Katherine, NT. This camp supports our workers on the Tindal RAAF Base, and the Caretakers role will be to ensure our employees are eating good food and are looked after in their downtime from work (up to 20 people capacity). 

• Working independently with meal planning and preparation ensuring appropriate hygiene, health & safety in storage, handling, and cooking of food (breakfast, cold lunch and hot dinner).
• Maintaining and cleaning kitchen and camp facilities.
• Weekly stock control, including travel from remote camp site to closest town (Katherine) 15 minutes by sealed road to collect weekly food supplies.
• Adhere to the HACCP methodology, ensuring that all documentation in relation to food safety is maintained daily and periodically throughout the day, including temperature monitoring, stock control and rotation.
• Laundering and maintenance of camp linens. 
• Minimise waste and ensure the correct and timely disposal of all consumable and waste products. 
• Completing manual handling tasks with a keen safety awareness.

• Relevant Trade or training certificates in nutrition, food preparation, cooking, or similar desirable.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or be willing to obtain before starting). 
• Experience in a cooking environment (camp or remote experience and high-volume bulk catering experience advantageous).
• Previous meal planning experience.
• Ability to keep to a budget and keep accurate records.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence (ability to drive a manual is a bonus!)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
