About the Organisation

Child Australia is an early childhood education and care not for profit organisation providing services throughout Western Australia and Northern Territory regions. Working collaboratively with children, their parents, families, early childhood professionals and the local community, we aim to develop and expand the education and care that children receive within their first years of life.

Child Australia is regarded as a leading authority on capacity building within the early to middle childhood sector, through providing professional development, information, online training and a wealth of professional resources.

The Opportunity

Nightcliff Campus (ELC & OSHC) is located on the school grounds of Nightcliff Primary School. We have a modern, purpose built, 55 place service built in 2012.

The Campus is managed as a partnership between Child Australia and Nightcliff Primary School and aims to support the Nightcliff community by providing education and care in an environment of learning and belonging.

We are currently looking for a Centre Director to lead our team of high-quality educators at Nightcliff ELC & OSHC

This is a Permanent Full Time position working 75 hours a fortnight.

Flexibility option to work a compressed nine day fortnight.

The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills with a proven ability to build lasting relationships with staff, families and children. You must have the ability to guide, mentor and empower the staffing team as well as the ability to identify and nurture each staff member’s individual strengths. You will lead teams to create innovative and exciting, high quality learning programs and build their reflective practices whilst demonstrating that you are highly organised, approachable and flexible.

Be prepared to continue your own learning journey through professional development and training and create effective relationships with the leadership team contributing to a culture of inclusiveness, sharing and support.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide pedagogical leadership to ensure quality care and education programs for children, and direction, support and continuous learning for staff.
  • Provide a vibrant, interesting, varied and appropriate children’s program that is developed and implemented to meet the ongoing needs of the children as per the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Ensure that the philosophy, policies and procedures of the Service are upheld, implemented and reviewed regularly to meet relevant requirements.
  • Maintain compliance and work within the National Regulations and Law along with all legal and statutory requirements.
  • Build relationships and strong connections between families and the Centre
  • Actively support the mission, vision and values of the organisation
  • Monitor the utilisation of services and financial expenditure to ensure compliance within budget
  • General staff management responsibilities such as recruitment, rosters and performance management

To succeed in this role, you will need

  • Diploma qualification in accordance with ACECQA Approved Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years in a management/leadership position
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Competency in learning and operating computing systems
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrated and extensive knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards and Education and Care Services National Regulations
  • Exceptional communication and team building skills
  • A current Working with Children Check
