About the role
Captain Starlight is a superhero from Planet Starlight who delivers happiness to children in hospitals, clinics, and remote communities across Australia. Our Captains are a team of experienced performers, trained to use play, creativity and social connection to support children and young people in some of their toughest times and to positively transform their health care experience.
Captain Starlight programs reach every major children’s hospital in Australia and beyond. This innovative program was developed in partnership with leading health professionals to complement the Australian healthcare system to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of sick kids.
As Captain Starlight, you will:
- Make a real and positive difference to the lives of others.
- Become the best performer you can be - we offer performance workshops with renowned industry professionals and the opportunity to participate in a week of Learning and Development in another Starlight Express Room of your choice..
- Have flexibility around your other performance commitments including 8 weeks of paid annual leave pro-rata to support your craft and your wellbeing!
- Be part of an incredible, diverse team of over 160 talented actors and performers, each with their own networks.
- Be supported with a relocation package and a remote living allowance.

You will be based at either Darwin or Alice Springs children’s hospital and escape the ordinary by going on our Healthier Future Innovative trips. This means you’ll be traveling by road or a small plane to some of the most remote and special parts of Australia. Spending time outdoors connecting and embracing the land you’re on, joined by a truly incredible team!

About you
To #SHINE as a Captain :
- You have experience and training in acting, theatre, theatre-making, music, musical theatre, standup, improv and /or clowning as these skills are a must!
- You’re a master of quick-thinking, reading a room and delivering exceptional experiences in a safe, imaginative, and entertaining way.
- You’re authentic, and playful and thrive when working with others working in a pair.
