For NSW Police Officer’s it can be daunting and confusing to visualise life after Police. They may have complex injuries or illnesses that make it difficult for them to envisage being successful in securing new employment. But we know that they have valuable transferable skills that are recognised and desired by many public and private sector employers. This is where our team of experienced, and skilled Career Transition Officers play a vital role. With a professional and empathic approach, the role drives and coordinates the activities to support Officers to exit the Police Force with dignity, ensuring they are equipped with the resources and skills to secure meaningful employment. There are multiple Career Transition Officer positions available to be part of our Career Transition Unit, Health, Safety and Wellbeing Command team. The Career Transition Officer co-ordinates, influences and drives return to work and injury management activities for NSWPF employees who are facing Career Transition after injury. They ensure all matters are managed professionally and with empathy to understand the employees needs at the stage of their Career Transition journey, providing support and services to influence a positive experience and improved health, and ensures return to work outcomes are met.

Target Question 1:

Career Transition after injury has a strong emphasis on a collaborative injury management approach. Provide an example of when you have collaborated with an injured worker's treatment team to achieve a positive outcome. What was the outcome? 

Target Question 2:

An injured worker has capacity to work external to the NSWPF, however the worker wants to wait until they have been medically retired prior to transitioning into a new career. How would you handle this situation and what advice would you give the injured worker?

Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a rigorous National Police (criminal history) Check and obtain and maintain a Security Clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force.
