About the Job

We are seeking energetic Casual PetCare &Doggy DayCare Attendantsfor our Canberra (Symonston) Pet Hotel & Doggy Daycare.

Shifts are offered between 7am - 7pm, 7 days per week including public holidays. From 15-20 hours per week and flexing up during peak periods.

The key accountabilities of the role include animal welfare, cleaning and customer service.

You will be responsible for the quality of pet welfare and providing care for both boarding pet guests and Doggy Daycare guests which includes cleaning kennels, feeding pets, basic washing/grooming and exercising of pets. Additionally Doggy day Care Attendants are responsible for managing behaviour & pack dynamics. Our Petcare/Animal Attendants also provide excellent customer service when engaging with our clients at pick up and drop off.

About You

You are reliable, motivated and experienced in caring for animals, with genuine affection for cats and dogs. You are available to work Public Holidays & School Holidays. To be a high performer in this role, you will be:

• Certified in animal studies and/or companion animal services and/or experienced working in vet clinics, Doggy Daycares, kennels or catteries (preferred)
• Available to work during on weekends & public holidays with flexibility to work extra shifts (up to 38 hrs/week) during the school holidays
• Available for rotating rostered shifts, and flexibility to occasionally cover other unplanned absences at short notice
• Prepared to jump at the chance to help others in your team
• Able to work at a brisk pace and carry out tasks to required timeframes
• Able to work independently yet under guidance as needed
• Strongly passionate about companion animals
• A good communicator and positive person who enjoys teamwork
• A licensed driver, with an unrestricted Drivers License and access to a car (and clean driving record)
• Committed to working safely, and following Standard Operating Procedures
• Willing and able to adhere to Hanrob Pet Hotels' operating procedures and work health and safety requirements at all times

IMPORTANT: This is an active and physical role working across the Pet Hotel. In addition to basic administrative work, the incumbent will primarily be required to work indoors and outdoors (sometimes in inclement weather conditions, and hands on with cats and dogs, on their feet for a significant portion of their day. They must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, bend, crouch, kneel, squat, reach, stretch, and restrain animals up to 50kg on leads, communicate, speak, and interact with customers, internal and external stakeholders, and members of the public in person, over the phone, and online, and occasionally take difficult conversations, including providing feedback and receiving complaints, in order to perform the inherent requirements of the role.
