Casual Gym, Rec & Pool Staff

Job Description:
Seeking a Casual Sport and Recreation Attendant with current first aid and lifeguard qualifications to work in the Downer team based in Canberra at Duntroon.
Responsibilities:
The casual Sport and Recreation Attendant is responsible for overseeing the general operation of the pool and surrounding amenities including shower and toilet facilities. Daily duties include:

• Conduct opening and closing duties for the pool
• Removing pool covers
• Cleaning pool and surrounds
• Remove floating surface debris
• Place lane ropes in pool
• Prepare all safety equipment
• Test quality of pool water and record results
• Lifeguard activities such as maintaining a vigilant oversight of the pool
• Undertake the rescue of any user in accordance with the standard work instructions covered by the Certification

Qualifications:

• Current Resuscitation Certificate - Oxy Viva
• Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate - must be maintained with no lapse in expiry
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate
• Certificate 3 in Fitness (preferred)
• Suitability for Defence security clearance (Australian Citizenship Mandatory)

Experience

• Minimum 1 year experience in a lifeguard role
• Able to perform the inherent physical requirements of the role
• Positive attitude
• Customer service experience
