‘The Yard’ and ‘Doonan Valley Garden Centre’ are family owned businesses located in Doonan near Noosa and form the largest landscape supplies and garden centre on the Sunshine Coast.
As a ‘one stop shop’ we supply an extensive range of bulk landscape materials, from sand, soils, mulches, pebbles and pavers, to fertilisers through to pots and plants.
We are looking for an additional Loader Operator / Yard Person to join our team. The position will initially be casual with a view to full time for the right candidate.
About the role
The Loader Operator / Yard Person reports directly to the Business Manager and is responsible for the safe and proper handling, loading, and storage of aggregate and other materials; and for the proper care and maintenance of plant equipment as assigned by the Manager; and for general housekeeping of plant property and premises.

Loader responsibilities include:
- Safe and efficient operation of front-end loaders to lift, transport, and load bulk materials into trucks, trailers and around the site.
- Batching/mixing of custom blended bulk product mixes
- Perform regular scheduled preventative maintenance on loaders and trucks
- Keep loaders and trucks clean both inside and outside.
- Monitor and report mechanical problems associated with plant equipment to the Manager.
- Assist with truck deliveries as required
- Assist with truck general maintenance as required
Yard Person responsibilities include:
- Properly keep clean and maintain general exterior yard areas
- Keep display areas tidy and presentable on a daily basis
- Keep shed tidy and presentable – ensure products are kept neat and tidy and floor is swept/blown out
- Ensure that Truck Washdown area and other areas of the yard are kept clean and free of debris, at times using a high-pressure water hose.
- Ensure bulk material bunkers are kept tidy and filled
Customer Service responsibilities
- Assist customers with the loading of other products either by hand or forklift.
- Bagging products by shovel/hopper
Qualifications
- Current Front End Loader Licence and experience (essential)
- Current Fork Lift Licence and experience (essential)
- MR licence (desirable)
- HR licence (desirable)
- General Safety Induction Card (or willing to obtain one)
