ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary purpose of this role is the development of the best talent (male and female) in the Big Rivers region in collaboration with the NT and national AFL Talent team.
Establishing and maintaining a high-performance football program for both boys and girls to maximise their opportunities within the game. Secondly, work with the AFL Talent Manager - NT, the Head Coach and the Regional Alice Springs Coach to play a supporting role in the education and training development of the players.
This is a casual coaching role located in Tennant Creek and expected hours would vary pending travel opportunities, however estimated between 4 and 10 hours per week.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:
- Being the Academy Regional coach of the various boys' and girls' NT Academy players/ potential NT Academy players in the Big Rivers region.
- Managing the Big Rivers regional trainings and communication of the talent program in an effective and efficient manner.
- Creating and maintaining an environment that will support and enable the most talented young footballers (male and female) in the NT to meet their football potential.
- Support the ongoing improvement of coaching standards in the NT by contributing to coach education programs and initiatives of AFL NT.
- Lead the connection to and communication with other football stakeholders in NT to ensure strong connections are formed and maintained with community clubs (BRAFL, NTFL), community coaches and schools on individual player management and development.
- Assist in develop quality feedback systems to Big Rivers players in the program that includes video editing feedback (individual and team), written and verbal with the objective to develop players
- Assistant in the Development of NT Academy Underage Team program relating to training camp content, training sessions, match day plans, game plans etc.
- Provide assistance, and feedback to all players/coaches involved in AFL NT Talent Pathways both in male and female programs U13 - 19.
- Play a leadership role in coaching and mentoring NT players selected (boys and girls)
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
Core Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of current coaching practices, strategies and systems
- Strong leadership skills and experience in leading a team
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with high level of stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated experience in coach development
- Level 2 Accredited Football Coaching Qualification or willingness to get a Level 2 Accreditation
- Prior experience coaching in AFL system, with elite junior footballers or coaching in Talent Pathway
- Strong IT skills
