Overview

Expression of Interest for sessional teaching and marking across a range of courses in the School of Computing Technologies of the STEM College, RMIT.

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University or online.
  • Casual hours commencing as soon as possible
  • Contribute to a culture of quality learning and teaching of the School of Computing Technologies.

About the Role and Your Responsibilities

The School of Computing Technologies (SCT) is a centre for digital innovation, world class research, and education in STEM via streamlined collaboration across relevant disciplines. SCT programs prepare students for employment in diverse and complex environments as the teaching is underpinned by a culture of academic excellence, advanced research, and strong community partnerships.

To help to support this aim we require passionate casual staff that will prepare and deliver teaching and / or marking. We welcome expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to register their interest to teach and/or mark on a casual basis within the Discipline.

Classes are delivered in person at our Melbourne CBD Monday to Friday.
 

The volume, nature and availability of sessional teaching will vary based on the needs of the school including course offerings, timetabling and student demand.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum qualification of Bachelor (Honours)
  • Evidence of teaching ability and the capacity to engage students in an enthusiastic, concise, engaging and informative manner.
  • "Demonstrable ability to teach in a collaborative bootcamp and studio (learning by doing) environment, small group environments, working in teaching teams to stimulate student discussion (mostly relevant for 1st year, bootcamp and studio courses)"Demonstrable ability to grade student assessment and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of requisite content, research, and writing skills for course/s taught within the School of Computing Technologies programs
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Prior experience in teaching or marking in computer science, cloud and security, data science and artificial intelligence related areas
  • Experience in using a variety of tools such as GitHub and Trello.
