Great opportunity to work with cattle reproduction specialists, based in Scone (NSW)

Full time x 5 days per week

Our Client, Northern Artificial Breeders (Northern AB) are reproduction specialists who assist cattle breeders achieve better results through higher calving rates, the use of targeted genetics and overall, more superior herd management, equating to an increase in profitability.

Established for over 20 years, Northern AB’s excellent reputation has seen a steady increase in demand for their services, necessitating an increase in staff numbers to support their clients. 

As a result, this is an outstanding opportunity for a rural person with a strong interest in and passion to learn more about beef &/or dairy cattle reproduction, to join the team.

The role will involve;

  • assisting cattle producers with selection of beef & dairy cattle semen and merchandise
  • artificial insemination in peak periods (training will be provided, if required)
  • opportunity to gain experience in manual & ultrasound pregnancy testing and semen collection & morphology testing
  • assist with the ordering and dispatch of semen and supplies to clients
  • assist with the delivery of 25 kg tanks of liquid nitrogen (LN2) from our Client’s Scone base to Doctor’s surgeries, veterinary practices & farms in the Hunter Valley and surrounding areas, when required  

To be successful, you must meet the following criteria;

  • an outgoing personality with the ability to liaise comfortably, knowledgeably and build rapport with rural clients
  • preparedness to research and be up to date with the latest semen genetics available
  • Be able to show initiative and have an eye for detail
  • assist in organising and attending “Information Days” and conferences for clients and potential clients
  • sound computer knowledge 
  • excellent communication & record keeping skills
  • the natural motivation to be a self-starter who is also comfortable to work alone at times
  • a clean, current driving licence 
  • ideally, have knowledge of/experience with bovine artificial insemination procedures (training will be provided, if required)
  • been vaccinated for Q Fever, or preparedness to be vaccinated
  • knowledge of social media co-ordination, including Facebook & google would be beneficial

 An attractive remuneration will be negotiated with the successful applicant and a modern air-conditioned van will be provided for deliveries. Unfortunately, accommodation is not provided.
