CEMETERIES ATTENDANT/RANGER – GUNDAGAI –Permanent Full Time

 Applications are invited from interested persons for the above permanent full-time position of Cemeteries Attendant/Ranger– Full Time, based at our Gundagai Depot.

 This position assists in the excavation and preparation of gravesites for burial at Council Cemeteries. Provides grounds’ keeping, repairs and maintenance and cleaning services at the Council cemeteries and other designated public areas. Supports and relieves the Ranger to attend to compliance matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensures a high level of presentation of surroundings for mourners and visitors at Council cemeteries.
  2. Ensures graveside areas are prepared in co-operation with funeral directors in a timely and sensitive manner.
  3. Routinely clean Council’s public amenities to a high standard to provide hygienic facilities for the general public.
  4. Ensures grounds’ keeping at Council cemeteries complies with the Voluntary Conservation Agreements covering those locations.
  5. Ensure compliance with Council’s Work Health & Safety and Risk policies and procedures for the provision of worker and public safety.
  6. Assist and relieve Council’s Rangers to attend to compliance matters under the Companion Animals Act, POEI Act, Local Government Act, Impounding Act and Roads act and assist with dog control duties, pound maintenance and the welfare of impounded animals.
  7. Working within Council’s Park and Gardens team, including labouring, mowing, spraying and other duties as required.

Benefits

  • Salary Range is $1,088.90 to $1,274.00 gross per week.
  • 11% super guarantee levy payable by Council.
  • 9 day fortnight working arrangement.

Re-advertised ROAD SAFETY OFFICER Full Time – Grant Funded up to 30 June 2025 – COOTAMUNDRA
We are looking for motivated Road Safety Officer to cover both our Cootamundra and Gundagai areas. You will have a strong customer focus and enjoy working with community groups and government agencies.
The function of this role includes developing, implementing, and promoting: –
– effective community road safety programs in conjunction with key stakeholders.
– a Road Safety Plan to encourage local residents to be safer drivers, pedestrians and road users.
– a range of strategies which will promote road safety in the local area in consultation and/or in conjunction with other road safety stakeholders.
This position is full time and currently co-funded between Council and TfNSW, up to 30 June 2025. Extension to this term will be subject to recurrent funding performance and operational requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Contribute to improved road safety outcomes in Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council Area.
2. Challenges in raising the profile of road safety in the community to guide behavioural change.
3. Prepare and implement a Local Road Safety 2022 Year Action Plan for Council with particular emphasis on projects that utilise the Safe Systems approach to road safety.

COMMUNITY RECOVERY OFFICER – 12 MONTH CONTRACT

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above permanent full-time position of Community Recovery Officer to be based at either Gundagai or Cootamundra Office.

The role of Community Recovery Officer is responsible for the establishment, communication and management of strategies and plans that support community recovery in the event of peak events including natural disasters.

The position incumbent will work closely with the community and relevant state and federal authorities to identify needs, develop local recovery programs, assist in accessing information and resources and provide leadership and community capacity building and re-building. This includes:

  • initiating and supporting key committees and working groups
  • establishing, monitoring and evaluating local recovery programs and activities
  • establishing cooperative disaster recovery networks across government, non-government and community groups that can assist community recovery and develop local infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The establishment of emergency strategies and plans that ensure as far as practicably possible, the expeditious implementation of preventative and/or mitigating community support and recovery actions.
  • Firmly establishing Council’s position within, and actively supporting and contributing to the relevant local, regional and national panels / forums and disaster response committees in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for the community and other local stakeholders.
  • Liaising, consulting and two-way communication with local committees and stakeholders in the development or promulgation of emergency planning and response initiatives.
  • Continually monitoring trends, forecasts and recommendations and reviewing Council’s strategies and plans to ensure currency and responsiveness of them.
  • Continually monitoring and establishing a strong understanding or relevant legislation, ministerial and other guidelines and codes of practice, and for ensuring that Council’s strategies and plans comply with them.
