The CENA Education and Trauma Consultant is responsible for developing and reviewing national Education and CENA Trauma Nursing Program, modules, content and materials. The role will focus on general emergency education as well as a specific focus on disaster and Trauma nursing within the CENA Trauma Nursing Program (CENA TNP). The role includes the ongoing development coordination and training of facilitators who deliver the programs.
Essential criteria
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
- Post graduate qualification in Emergency/Trauma nursing with extensive experience in emergency nursing
- Current CENA Member, or willing to become a member.
- Fluent with the use of technologies including Microsoft Office, online meetings and Online Learning Platforms.
- Experience with delivering education in a simulated learning environment.
- Demonstrated advanced interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated skills in organisation of and coordination of educational courses.
- Must have, or obtain, an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Must have, or obtain, appropriate insurance.
Key responsibilities
Course sales and coordination
- Develops sales leads with local health services to build and maintain CENA TNP and other education programs.
- Maintain a database of sales leads.
- Design, develop and distribute promotional content for distribution via digital and print channels.
- Liaise with the CENA secretariat to maintain a calendar of CENA TNP and other education programs.
- Act as the main contact point for queries relating to CENA TNP received via the CENA secretariat.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the CENA secretariat to facilitate course bookings, the distribution of participant resources and certificates.
Facilitator coordination
- Recruit and train facilitators as advised by the National Education Committee
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the CENA Education Faculty.
- Provide mentorship and training to facilitators.
- Liaise with facilitators to adequately resource local events.
- Maintain an accurate database of facilitators.
Financial management
- Provide a written budget for each course to the CENA Finance Director
- Be fiscally prudent in planning CENA Education and CENA TNP activities.
Curriculum review
- Participate in and contribute to national and CENA TNP course material review as directed by the CENA National Education Committee and CENA TNP Working Group
- Work collaboratively with the CENA Education Consultant (Emergency) to develop and review education content as directed by the CENA National Education Committee.
Reporting
- Attendance at the CENA National Education Committee (6 annually).
- Provide a written report and attend 6 national board meetings.
- Provide a written report for inclusion in the CENA Annual Report.

- CENA National Board, including Financial Director, CENA National Educational Committee, and Education Consultant (Emergency).
- CENA Education and CENA TNP Faculty.
- CENA Secretariat.
Contact Hours and remuneration
- Total remuneration - $60000pa
- We suggest that the key responsibilities should be achieved in approximately 80 hours per month.
