Althea’s Community Hub is a day centre for those who are vulnerable, homeless or at risk of homelessness.   We provide these individuals with the opportunity to socialise and be supported and valued as members of our community. Services delivered from the Hub include emergency relief support, case management, access to essential and specialist services, meals, showers and laundry facilities, participation in organised events and opportunities for paid voluntary work.  The centre also delivers our social enterprise, Morehead Meals, which produces affordable, ethical, healthy and delicious meals, available for purchase to everyone in our community.

We are looking to appoint the Centre Coordinator on a permanent full-time basis. As the Centre Coordinator at the Hub, you will support the Program Manager by coordinating the Althea Community Hub (ACH) team, administration, record keeping and centre-based activities, to assist individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The role is responsible for the coordination of a range of activities including administration, supervision of the kitchen and smooth operation of our social enterprise Morehead Meals, sorting and distribution of donations and development of social media content. • Responsible for the sorting, storage and distribution of all centre donations.
  • Coordinating and facilitating a diverse range of wellbeing group activities and disseminate a calendar of monthly activities to the community.
  • Building and maintaining links to services with other relevant organisations with a view to prioritising clients on a need’s basis, providing referrals where required with a view to improving outcomes for people who are homeless.
  • Leading weekly roster meetings for centre users who participate in volunteer project work and provide documented health and safety induction for volunteers.
  • Monitoring potential risks posed by clients who may be under the influence of substances that could pose a danger to staff or other centre users.
  • Adherence with organisational Quality Framework, policies and procedures, compliance with Work Health & Safety, Anti-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity.
  • Ensuring accurate, confidential and meaningful records are kept on clients.
  • Representing Althea Projects at relevant network events on a rotational basis.
  • Actively contribute to maintaining a culture which values health, safety and wellbeing

In return, we offer you the following:

  • An opportunity to help change lives
