Chef - Full Time

Onyx Espresso Bar in Mayfield NSW 2304 is seeking for Full time Chef due to rapid growth.The ideal candidates need to have a minimum three-year experience working in a commercial kitchen and need to have strong communication skills and be able to prepare a variety of dishes to the high standard required by the cafe.Minimum Qualification/ Experience:

• · Minimum three-year experience in a commercial kitchen.
• · Certificate IV in Commercial cooking

Duties include:

• · planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
• · Analyse recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food, labour, and overhead costs.
• · monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
• · discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
• · Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes and menus, taking into account such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients and the likely number of customers.
• · demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
• · preparing and cooking food
• · Determine production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.
• · Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation.
• · explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
• · Recruit and hire staff, including cooks and other kitchen workers.
• · Providing effective training to staff

The ideal candidates need to have a strong understanding and knowledge of food and ingredients. You will be reporting directly to the Manager and director of the company however, you will also display strong leadership skills as the kitchen hand staff, the waitresses and the delivery drivers will be reporting to you, and you may be required to train other kitchen staff and apprentices.Salary $75,000 plus super
